Playing their first season since a demerger last summer that saw the Pirates Amateurs take on the name of Penzance & Newlyn RFC which became separate from the Cornish Pirates, there has been much to commend the club.
Promoted as champions of Counties 1 Tribute Ale Western West at the end of the 2024/25 season, in their first year playing at higher level in Regional 2 Tribute Ale South West, the team performed commendably to finish eighth.
Penzance & Newlyn’s second team have also done particularly well. The side comfortably topped their C3 Cornwall league, and they have also qualified for the final of the Duchy Cup, to be played at Falmouth against Saltash 2nd team on Sunday 17th May (ko 3.30pm).
