50th Cap for Luke Cowan-Dickie By Phil Westren

When England won 25-7 against Australia on Saturday, it marked proud Cornishman Luke Cowan-Dickie’s 50th appearance for England.

A product of Penzance & Newlyn RFC’s youth section, where he was in the same teams from a very young age as Jack Nowell, like Jack he progressed to play at both youth and senior level for England, for Exeter Chiefs, and the British Lions.

Luke started his career as a prop before later transitioning to hooker. He was educated at Mount’s Bay School and Truro College, and later enjoyed considerable success at the Chiefs, whilst for the past couple or so seasons he has played for Sale Sharks.

As for his 50th England appearance, modest Luke, who is now aged 32 and has experienced more than his fair share of injuries during his career, had extra cause to celebrate when scoring what was a truly outstanding try when he came off the bench last weekend. Tough, dynamic and uncompromising, but also someone who is skilled and plays with a smile on his face, he has been one of the very best of players in his position over the years and we all wish him all good luck for the rest of his career.
